STEVEN JAMAIL (Music and Additional Lyrics) Harper’s Guild award-winning composer, Steven Jamail, recently premiered his concert feature “No Ordinary Monday” under the direction of Marc Bruni at the Hudson Terrace in New York City. His musical, My Life Today, was commissioned by Rosie O’Donnell’s charity, Rosie’s Theater kids & was featured in the 2010 New York Musical Theater Festival. He has also penned the score for two works under the direction of Tony award winning producer, Stuart Ostrow, at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts and his musical VOTE! as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. Television work includes creating & conducting the holiday arrangement for NBC’s tree-lighting at Rockefeller Center, the original song for Rachel Ray’s 40th birthday episode and music directing episodes of The Apprentice - Season 10. Regionally, he has worked with the Reprise! Series & the Fynsworth Alley record label in Los Angeles, Theater Under the Stars in Houston, and served four seasons as resident musical director/conductor with the Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals. He has soloed onstage with jazz legend Chick Corea, pianist/composer John Tesh, performed live on Rosie Radio (Sirius/XM) & recently conducted tribute concerts on Broadway for Chita Rivera, Cyndi Lauper and Queen Latifah. As an educator, his music/drama curriculum has recently been adopted across the globe by the Council of International Primary Schools. He is the recipient of a Young Fellowship and is the winner of the prestigious Envision Award for the Arts in 2004 & 2008. Steven holds degrees in music composition from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
RYANN FERGUSON (Book and Lyrics)Ryann is a Harper's Guild Award-Winning lyricist & writer/producer of theatre & film. Her lyrics have been heard on the hit YouTube series The Battery’s Down (Ghost Light Records) and Rosie O'Donnell's Sirius Satellite radio show. Her musical VOTE! premiered Off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre as part of the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival. In addition to VOTE!, Ferguson and collaborator Steven Jamail are developing three new musicals, Nicholas & Alexandra, Tercio de Muerte, and Curious Johnson (the Toothfairy musical). Her work has been performed throughout New York & Los Angeles including the Zipper Theatre, Theatre Row, Upright Cabaret, and Joe’s Pub as part of the Composer Exposure series. She has been a guest speaker at Emory University, Rice University, and Indiana- Bloomington, where students workshopped VOTE! in 2009. Broadway production credits include Sweeney Todd, Company, Grey Gardens, The Drowsy Chaperone, Spring Awakening, 13, Blithe Spirit, You're Welcome America, Oleanna and the Off-Broadway transfer of Avenue Q. Her short stories & excerpts of her novels have been published in various literary journals since she was sixteen, when she completed her first novel. She holds a degree in English Literature from Rice University and in September 2010, she began her work towards a PhD in creative writing at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. |
